Dooagh, Achill
Fishing Dooagh guide
There are three local fishing marks near to here. You can choose either beach or rocks. Park your vehicle near to the beach and walk to the rocky foreshore to your left for approx 15-20 minutes but be very careful all along this stretch as tidal swell can be both immense and dangerous. Good footwear is essential and I would recommend a life vest of some type also. Do not fish here alone!
Dooagh Beach
Directly from the beach.
Reportedly good for White Trout
Alennaun More.
I have read on a few websites over the years that this fishing mark is said to be one of the best (if not the best!) fishing marks on Achill Island. It is a rock fishing mark and will take about a twenty minute from the car park at Dooagh beach, (heading back towards Purteen harbour).
Reportedly good for Pollack, Mackerel, Conger and Coalfish from here.
Carrick Mor
Shore fishing from the rocks after the last house when you leave Dooagh on the way to Keem.
Not for the faint hearted!
Reportedly good for Wrasse, Conger and Pollack.
